Currently YOU have the right to service and repair YOUR vehicle wherever you wish. However, in 2010, that right could be removed!

“We’ve sorted your problem, that’ll be double what you might have paid at an independent car repairer….”
This would be the case if you are forced to take your car to the franchised dealer!

At present a key European legislation gives you the freedom to repair and maintain your vehicle at an independent repairer which enables you to keep your costs down as opposed to taking it back to the manufacturer’s dealer. The independent repairer can keep the price down because their hourly labour rate is generally half of a franchised dealers, it is not only us saying that, the source of this information is GIPA UK Ltd.

If this legislation changes, which is known as block exemption, YOU will be forced to take YOUR own vehicle to the main dealer’s whilst the vehicle is under its warranty period. Failure to comply with this will mean the manufacturer will simply invalidate YOUR warranty!

This will only take a few seconds of your time but could go a very long way in helping to make the campaign a success and helping us stop the European legislation being passed. You will also find a template of a letter already written for you to follow or download which, if you feel strongly enough, simply sign it and send it to your local MP or MEP to show that you demand the right to freedom of choice.
